'To Be Divinely Inspired'
I am grateful to have been blessed in life with such a powerful and vivid imagination. Personally, I have always loved all manner of creative endeavour, particularly Art. Even at a tender age, whenever I felt troubled, I would lead myself into a daydream, quietly visualising myself being in a more fulfilled place, state or condition. If it was an object I desired that I did not yet have, I would visualise myself having it. This practice would often raise my mood, and increase my optimism. These days, now in my adult years, I regularly experience very vivid dreams when I sleep. Many of them include flying or floating. Dreams can be powerful, whether they be day dreams or night dreams.
Here in the UK, some few years back, I had just completed extensive training, and qualified as a personal stylist, image consultant and color therapist. Subsequently, I travelled to America to further study and complete an artist training course. During that art course, I was presented with a beautiful quote printed on a small pack of cards that were included in my study materials. It said..
"A society is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists''
This quote is so profound! Let's please read it again.
I suddenly got one of those 'Aha!' moments in life, when everything falls into place concerning an issue. I felt like someone had just clarified and summarised my entire life purpose and destiny. The idea that, the dreams of society could possibly be resting on my own shoulders, literally, was very poignant. This was a defining moment for me, and it marked my final full transformation into adulthood.
Suddenly I became accutely aware of being accountable, for whatever was happening in my own head. Wow! Was I truly carrying society's future and dreams, with me around in my own mind? How amazing and incredibly empowering. So henceforth, all that seemed left, for me to do now, was get to work manifesting, some of those goals and dreams.
Today, several years later with many art pieces and artistic projects behind me, I hope that I have infact made, and will continue to make, a sincere contribution to fulfilling those dreams, both personally and publically. I am creating This 'Big Dreamers' Online Gallery, as a dedication to our society's biggest dreamers, and grandest visions. It is indeed, a further step, towards validating the words, of that earlier quote.
